Radio Grenouille: Broad and narrow
Radio Grenouille from Marseille uses radio as a space for communication, performance, creativity and social change. They moved their operations to Liverpool for the duration of Coming and Going and produced a series of five fascinating and intriguing radio broadcasts.

Monday 17th November
Sound artist Christophe Modica walks with us from Kensington to central Liverpool, sharing questions about culture, regeneration, cities...On the way, he meets some sound pieces from Marseille (Football Maman by Laure Martineti) and Istanbul (Bendeki Istanbul by Deniz Kologlu), Sandy, Oludele Olaseinde (musician), taxi driver Nick Cannon cooking and talking with sociologist Zafer Yenal, and Tenantspin.
Tuesday 18th November
Today, journalist Xavier Thomas invents a new language somewhere between French and English to drive us around Liverpool's industrial history and the stories that form its fabric. From trading to manufacture, from the slave trade to the business of culture, from Gdansk to Hillsborough - we hear from historian John Belcham, photographer Philippe Conti and architect Paul Sullivan. The programme begins with LoFiShipYard by Adam Witkowski from Gdansk, and concludes with Nightlife by Chris Watson from Liverpool.
Wednesday 18th November
Today, Nelly and Julie invite you to drink tea or coffee. Tea with Tenantspin to play with voices and talk about accents; coffee at the Kumba Imani centre to meet an amazing community initiative; tea with the musician Talib Rasool to hear about his journey here from Iraq. We'll also listen to some voices from Napoli and Marseille with sound artists Thomas Lypens (Marseille) and Olivier Feraud (Napoli).
Thursday 19 November
Bertrand's been out looking for liverpudlian musicians and the city's underground music scene. We chat with some activists from the artists' community, interview Gordon Ross (Liverpool 08's Mr Music) and spend some time at Melo Melo cafe. On the way, we also hear an original sound piece from the artist Vergil Sharkya, Scouse Scoucer.
Friday 20 November
To end our journey between Marseille and Liverpool, we follow Stephane, who's spent some time with the six musicians creating new music together as part of Coming and Going. We'll hear each of them talk about their creative practice and about their relationship with the city of Liverpool. This programme ends with the sounds of Marseille as heard by the sound artist Chantal Dumas.
